I was 21 years old when I joined Network Marketing.  Complete strangers walked up to me at a restaurant and presented the Excel Communications opportunity to me.  As excited as I was, and believe me I was excited when I saw people earning $1 million a month, I unfortunately didn’t have the $195 to sign up as a Representative, much less an extra $395 to become an Area Coordinator. You see I was robbing Peter to pay Paul, using my Discover Card to pay my Visa Card, and Visa Checks to pay my apartment rent.  (Don’t ask how I had a credit card…no idea.)  I was pumping my brakes to get my truck to stop and filling the radiator up with water every few days because it had a crack and I didn’t have the money to fix it.  I just didn’t understand why it cost money… 🙂

A few days before meeting this man I was headed to my Tennis Academy of which I owned, however by the time the bills were paid I had about $400 to $1500 per month left for me.  Anyhow, I was headed to work and heard a man say on a tape; “when you come to the crossroad in life, where you’re no longer sick and tired of your financial situation in life, but rather sick and tired of being sick and tired, you better get right so you don’t get left.”  At that moment reality hit me like a mental sledge hammer right across my face.  I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.  So rather than going to work I turned right and went out to a hill in southwest Fort Worth and grabbed a fast food bag out of my floorboard and began designing my life.  Who I wanted to help, what I wanted to learn, where I wanted to go, who I wanted to become, what I wanted to have.  If the sky was the limit, what would life be like?  Of course, I was 21, so I wrote down some crazy things; in addition to all the people I wanted to help there were a few things I wanted for myself; like a new car, a new home, new clothes, but then I let go and put down a few crazy things like airplanes, coaches, sports cars, million dollar homes, Armani suits, alligator shoes, rolex watches, travel the world, things that were so far out of my reach that in order to obtain them nothing short of a miracle would have to happen.  I would have to grow in ways I couldn’t imagine, I would have to work harder than ever in my life, I would have to become comfortable being in uncomfortable situations.

Needless to say, I found those strangers, Stephen and Charlotte Leddy and used the credit card that would pay my rent that month to become a Representative and Area Coordinator.  I went all in.  All my “chips” were now sitting in the center of the table.  Not having a clue how I would make it work, I knew why I had to make it work.  I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
