Life is truly a ride. We’re all strapped in and no one can stop it. When the doctor slaps your behind, he’s ripping your ticket and away you go. As you make each passage from youth to adulthood to maturity, sometimes you put your arms up and scream, sometimes you just hang onto that bar in front of you. But the ride is the thing. I think the most you can hope for at the end of life is that your hair is messed. You’re out of breath and you didn’t throw up. – unknown
Break with routine what happened to spontaneity? At what point did you lose the right to do something in your day just because you feel like it at the moment—just because you’re alive?
Because of out routines we forget that life is an adventure. -Maya Angelou
Be unlike you now and then. Escape the treadmill of predictability. Wear colored socks. Take the scenic route to work. Re-tune your radio to Beethoven or Mariachi music for awhile. Feed the birds at lunch. Give blood or visit the food bank. Call your mother. Plant a flaming yellow rhododendron. Buy a vegetable or fruit you’ve never tried before. Write a love letter to your significant other. Turn off the TV and talk to your kids.
Do something brilliant everyday. Strike out in some new directions. Learn martial arts or creative dance. Make a spectacular presentation. Obliterate your sales goal. Dream a wonderful dream. Prepare an astounding meal. Tell an outrageous joke. Savor life. Remember, we only pass this way once.
