John Muir, Who founded the Sierra Club and helped establish Yosemite National Park, wanted to preserve nature because of what it did for the human spirit. He said that modern life “chokes the soul,” and he believed that we could find ourselves by going outside and celebrating “God’s big show.”
Nikos Kazantzakis once said that God changes appearances every second and we should try to recognize him in all his disguises. One moment he is a glass of fresh water; the next, your son bouncing on your knees or the sunlight on an early morning walk.
Find a little piece of heaven on Earth, and return to your day a different person—inspired, refreshed, restored.
Happiness…
not in another place,
but this place,
not for another hour,
but this hour… -Walt Whitman
